Important Update
October 9, 2020
Regarding the Ontario Government’s Announcement Today
Attention Woodbine Horsepeople,
Please be advised that the Ontario Government announced today (Oct. 9, 2020) that, in light of the recent increase of COVID cases in the Province, it is introducing additional targeted public health measures in the Toronto, Ottawa and Peel regions. These modified Stage 2 restrictions will be in effect for a minimum of 28 days and reviewed on an ongoing basis.
What does this mean for Woodbine Racetrack?
Live horse racing is permitted to continue and will carry on as scheduled. However, due to the new health measures in the city of Toronto, we are being mandated to close our restaurants and all spectator viewing areas at Woodbine Racetrack.
The closure of our spectator viewing areas, including the apron, at Woodbine Racetrack, prevents us from allowing owners to attend and watch their horse(s) race live.
We are working internally to explore potential solutions that would allow us to welcome owners for major stakes races while respecting the governments health and safety measures. However, please be reminded that our highest priority will continue to be the health and safety of our employees and horsepeople, and protecting our live racing program. We will provide you with an update at that appropriate time.
Please be advised that any reservations by owners to attend live racing this weekend have been cancelled and access to our apron or restaurants as of tomorrow will be not be permitted.
While the Government attempts to flatten the latest COVID-19 curve, let’s continue to do our part by following all of the health and safety protocols that have been implemented to protect our employees, horsepeople and live racing program.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
